Liverpool 2 – West Brom 3
Will Jurgen Klopp ever win a trophy at Anfield?
Liverpool only have one last realistic hope of lifting silverware this season following Saturday’s FA Cup defeat at home to West Brom.
The last remaining competition the Reds could hoist this season is the Champions League. Liverpool take on Porto in the last-16.
It’s been a terrible few days for the Reds as they’ve lost matches to Swansea and now West Brom.
What’s the point of beating Man City if Klopp’s charges can’t put away the lessor sides?
Roberto Firmino gave Liverpool the lead with a glorious chip but West Brom hit back in some style.
Jay Rodriguez scored twice in four minutes to give West Brom the lead.
A Joel Matip own goal put the Baggies 3-1 up at the break, while Mohamed Salah’s second half goal was unable to spark a comeback.
‘Sign Leicester’s Riyad Mahrez’
Liverpool collected 142 million pounds from Barcelona this January after Philippe Coutinho’s transfer.
While the Reds have spent 75 million pounds on Virgil van Dijk this new year, does the West Brom result show that Klopp needs more recruits?
On BBC radio on Saturday night, Liverpool were urged to make a move for Leicester’s Riyad Mahrez.
Pat Nevin lead the Mahrez to Liverpool calls with the following comments:
Mahrez just looks like a Liverpool player to me. If I was in charge at Liverpool, I’d be banging down Leicester’s door to get him.
Liverpool were looking to their bench today thinking: ‘Who are we going to bring on to change the game?’, but there was no-one to bring on.
There’s no Daniel Sturridge or Philippe Coutinho like there might have been earlier in the season, and you’ve got to think Liverpool need to bring in one creative player before the end of the transfer window.
