Wenger slaughtered for ridiculous substitution vs Southampton

Aubameyang

Arsene Wenger has his issues with the Arsenal fans – in fact, there are quite a few issues and while the manager has no doubt done a huge service for the club and has been there for so long it seems as though he’s a part of the furniture – not to mention won a fair few things, in the last few years the fans have been calling for change.

Some of the protests and action taken by the fans is no doubt harsh and over the top – but at times, it’s easy to sympathise and see where they’re coming from – and when the manager decided to take off Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang against Southampton, it wasn’t just Arsenal fans who were stumped.

That’s because come the Europa League game on Thursday, Auba is of course unable to play – so hardly needed to be rested.

The one thing that did pay off was leaving Danny Welbeck on, who went on to score the goal that made it 3-2 after already initially putting Arsenal ahead in the match earlier.

Despite that, the fans were confused as to why Auba was taken off at all, given his confidence would have been boosted by a goal and he didn’t exactly need to be kept for the Europa League either – and of course they took to their favourite platform, Twitter, to vent their frustrations.
