Everton star Wayne Rooney has revealed that there is one regret when he left the Toffees to join Manchester United back in 2004.
The Englishman will certainly not regret how his career panned out but sometimes there are some things that play on your mind.
The star went on to be Man United’s all-time top goalscorer before leaving to rejoin his boyhood club in the summer of 2017.
It’s not been the greatest homecoming for the player, with Everton in the middle of a relegation battle from the middle of the table downwards.
Everyone in the bottom half of the table could be relegated at this point, including Sam Allardyce’s Everton.
Though, Wayne Rooney will be happy that he at least completed one thing that he was unable to before moving to Manchester United.
Safe to say, it isn’t an easy thing to do either.
“What I really regretted was I had not scored against Liverpool for Everton,” said the Toffees star.
“I did it for Manchester United but as a youngster, it was never a dream of mine to score at Anfield for Manchester United.
“I was an Everton fan, so as a young Everton fan I was dreaming of scoring at Anfield for Everton.”
“When I came back I was thinking about the chance to do that. So to do it this year fulfilled that.”
