Abdoulaye Doucoure impresses for Watford

Abdoulaye Doucoure joined Watford in February of 2016 from French outfit Stade Rennais for a fee of around £9.54m.

Doucoure would immediately be loaned to Spanish side Granada for the remained of the 2015/16 season where he would play 15 games.

The Frenchman would eventually make his Watford debut in the 2016/17 season and has since gone on to make 84 appearances across all competitions.

In those 84 games, Doucoure has scored 11 and assisted nine. The 26-year-old is also enjoying a very successful 2018/19 campaign.

Doucoure has been one of Watford’s stand out stars this season playing 21 Premier League games, scoring three and assisting five.

PSG linked with move for Doucoure

After impressing for Watford, it appears Doucoure has caught the eye of Ligue 1 giants PSG.

PSG have been linked with a move for Doucoure over the last season or so and those rumours have once again emerged now the January window is open.

Doucoure’s current Watford contract runs out in July of 2023.

While Javi Gracia is confident of keeping Doucoure till the end of the season, the Frenchman has admitted PSG hold a place in his heart:

“PSG holds an important place in my heart.

“They already contacted me, but I wanted to move to England at the time.

“Hearing that such clubs are interested in you, it’s a pleasure.

“I think a club like PSG are looking for a lot of players, they have a lot of leads, I’m not the only one. I’m happy to evolve at Watford and the club trusts me.”
