Watford vs Manchester City betting tips: Premier League match preview and predictions

Watford vs Manchester City prediction: Watford 0-3 Manchester City

Watford’s early season form has evaporated.

Four of their six wins came in their first four and that form has seen them slide down the table.

Now would be the perfect time to recapture some of that early season optimism.

Manchester City look unstoppable right now and have won their last 6 league matches.

Can Watford become only the third team to beat Man City since the start of last season?

Watford vs Manchester City: Who will win?

Watford a big price at 15/2 to claim a famous win.

Manchester City are big favourites at 1/3 to win. Again.

A draw is 4/1.

Manchester City to win and over 2.5 goals, which has happened in 9 of their 12 wins, is 4/6.

Manchester City to win and keep a clean sheet is 11/8.

Troy Deeney will return to the Watford attack. He’s 14/1 to score first and 7/2 to net anytime.

Sergio Agüero has 8 Premier League goals so far (only Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has more). The Argentine is 11/4 to break the deadlock and 4/6 to score in 90 minutes.

Agüero and Leroy Sané both to score is 5/2.

Watford vs Manchester City: Match preview

So far this season Watford have done what Watford do.

The Hornets were flying early on after 4 wins from their first four.

Their early season form was so good they were above Manchester City on 14 September.

However, they’ve tailed off a bit earlier than usual.

They then amassed just one point from their next four before back to back wins over Wolves and Huddersfield got them back on track.

However, similarly to before, they’ve only got one point from their last 4; a 1-1 draw at Southampton.

They were beaten 2-0 at Leicester on Saturday; a result which sees them drop to 10th.

They’ve already beaten Tottenham at home this season so can they claim the biggest scalp of all?

Manchester City continue to look unstoppable at the moment.

Pep Guardiola’s side have 38 points from a possible 42 and are two points above Liverpool.

On Saturday, they beat Bournemouth 3-1 at the Etihad to stay top of the league.

The goal they let in at the weekend was the first goal from open play they’d conceded for exactly three months (when Newcastle scored on 1 September in 2-1 win for Man City).

They’ve also scored 43 goals already; an average of over 3 per game.

Last week, they confirmed their place in the knockout stages of the Champions League.

A 2-2 draw away to Olympique Lyonnais ensured they’d go through and they need just a draw at home to Hoffenheim next week to secure top spot.

Can anyone stop them?

Despite an underwhelming performance at Leicester, Javi Gracia isn’t the type of manager who’ll make numerous changes.

Ben Foster has played every minute in goal and will be expecting to add to the 33 saves he’s made this season so far.

At the back, Adrian Mariappa appears to have displaced Sebastian Prödl and Christian Kabasele in the side.

Kiko Femenía will start ahead of fellow Spaniard Marc Navarro at right-back.

José Cholevas has put in more crosses (115) than anybody else in the Premier League and a few more could trouble Man City.

Étienne Capoue was sent off on Saturday and is out through suspension; he’ll be missed. Watford have appealed the decision.

Nathaniel Chalobah could start for only the second time this season alongside Abdoulaye Doucouré.

Tom Cleverley was on the bench on Saturday and could feature for the first time this year.

It was Deulofeu and Success up front on Saturday but the latter’s poor form should see Troy Deeney recalled.

Can this Watford team pull off a shock victory?

As Pep Guardiola’s squad contains so many good players, it’s often hard to predict who will be chosen to start.

Ederson will be looking to join his Brazilian teammate Alisson on 9 clean sheets; a staggering amount at this stage of the season.

Nicolás Otamendi has started the last few games but John Stones and Aymeric Laporte have been the first choice pairing at the back.

Danilo and Oleksandr Zinchenko both started at full-back against Bournemouth but Kyle Walker and Fabian Delph are both expected to come back in.

İlkay Gündoğan also started that match, scoring the third goal, but is expected to retain his place alongside Fernandinho.

David Silva got a rare rest but should come in for his namesake Bernardo.

Leroy Sané has flourished recently and, on the other side, Raheem Sterling has a higher goal involvement than anyone else in the Premier League since the start of last season.

It is still unknown whether or not Sergio Agüero will be fit to play.

Pep Guardiola was coy on the issue in his press conference and, if he’s not fit, Gabriel Jesus will continue up front.

Update: Sergio Aguero has not travelled to London and will miss out. The Argentine striker is also a doubt for the Chelsea match on Saturday.

He’ll hope to have this game wrapped up early with one eye on Chelsea on Saturday.
