Watford vs Fulham prediction: Watford 2-1 Fulham

Both sides head into Tuesday’s match off the back of weekend defeats against their respective Manchester opponents.

Fulham will need to pick up all three points if they are to have any realistic chance of avoiding the drop.

Watford have their sights on their upcoming FA Cup semi-final clash against Wolves on Sunday.

Watford vs Fulham: Who will win?

Fulham have lost each of their last eight matches. Watford are 7/10 favourites to win while Fulham can be backed at 7/2. The draw is priced at 3/1.

Watford have failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their last six matches, while Fulham have netted in three of their last four. Both teams to score is 8/13.

With Troy Deeney likely to be rested, Andre Gray could lead the line for Watford. The striker has scored two in his last four appearances. Back Gray to open the scoring at 5/1 or to score any time at 7/5.

Watford host struggling Fulham at Vicarage Road on Tuesday evening.

An eighth defeat on the bounce has left Fulham staring down the barrel. Fulham were beaten 2-0 by Manchester City on Saturday.

The scoreline somewhat flattered Fulham, who were utterly dominated by the Premier League leaders.

Fulham will be aiming to do something they have failed to do all season: Win away from home. The Cottagers have picked up just two points on their travels, conceding 40 goals in the process.

Scott Parker’s side are 16 points from safety. With just six games remaining, they look set to play in the Championship next season.

Watford slipped down to 10th after a 2-1 defeat at Old Trafford on Sunday. The visitors were 2-0 down when Abdoulaye Doucoure netted a late consolation goal. Watford played well enough to earn a point but it wasn’t to be for Javi Gracia’s men.

Watford are unbeaten in their last five matches at Vicarage Road, winning their last three there in all competitions.

The Hornets have a game in hand over the two sides above them, and a win on Tuesday could potentially see them leapfrog Wolves, Leicester and Everton into 7th position.

With a mid-table finish looking very likely, Watford can afford to shift all their attention to Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final against Wolves at Wembley.

The sides drew 1-1 in the reverse fixture at Craven Cottage in September. Gray opened the scoring before Mitrovic equalised for Fulham.

Watford team news vs Fulham

Despite having an almost-fully fit squad to choose from, Gracia is expected to rotate his side heavily ahead of Sunday’s trip to Wembley.

Tom Cleverley has a calf injury and is doubtful. The midfielder is unlikely to be risked unnecessarily.

Roberto Pereyra, Troy Deeney, Will Hughes, Craig Cathcart and Gerard Deulofeu are among those who could be rested.

Isaac Success, Andre Gray, Domingos Quina, Kiko Femenia and Miguel Britos will be hoping to start.

Adam Masina should continue at left-back, with Jose Holebas expected to be wrapped in cotton wool for Sunday.

Heurelho Gomes has been Watford’s cup goalkeeper this season, so there’s a chance he may be given some extra minutes in preparation for Sunday.

Fulham team news vs Watford

Aleksandar Mitrovic missed out at the weekend and remains a major doubt for Tuesday night. Ryan Babel should continue leading the line if Mitrovic fails to recover.

Scott Parker is likely to revert to a back four after fielding five at the back against City.

Tim Ream and Jean Michael Seri are both in contention to return to the starting eleven. The pair missed out on Saturday having returned late from international duty.

Calum Chambers has featured in defence in Fulham’s last two matches but could return to midfield, where he has looked more comfortable this season. Havard Nordtveit is an alternate option at the back.

Floyd Ayite and Andre Schurrle will battle it out for a spot on the right-hand side, while Denis Odoi could reclaim the right-back spot from Cyrus Christie.

Sergio Rico will start in goal as Marcus Bettinelli remains sidelined with a long-term knee injury. Alfie Mawson is targeting a return to first-team action later in the month.
