Watford vs Cardiff City betting tips: Premier League match preview and predictions

Watford vs Cardiff City prediction: Watford 2-0 Cardiff City

Can Cardiff make it back to back wins?

Neil Warnock’s side are looking to achieve back to back wins for the first time but their away record is really poor.

Watford meanwhile are winless since 27 October but did end a run of three successive defeats on Monday night.

Will either side get three precious points?

Watford vs Cardiff City: Who will win?

Watford, with home advantage, are huge favourites at 4/6 to claim all three points.

Cardiff are huge outsiders at 17/4 to win their first Premier League away game since 12 April 2014

A draw is 11/4.

Both teams to score no is 4/5; as is under 2.5 goals.

Watford’s top scorer this season is Roberto Pereyra with 5. The Argentine is 11/2 to score first and 2/1 to net anytime.

Callum Paterson scored his 14th Cardiff goal last Saturday. The Scot is 10/1 to break the deadlock and 10/3 to score anytime.

Watford vs Cardiff City: Match preview

Watford’s early season form appears to have evaporated.

Their 4 successive wins to start the season was followed by 4 games without a win.

That barren spell was ended by back to back wins over Wolves and Huddersfield on 27 October but they have not won since.

They’ve lost to Newcastle, Liverpool, Leicester and Manchester City in their last 6 but came so close to getting a rare away win on Monday.

They came form a goal down to lead 2-1 at Goodison Park but conceded in the 96th minute to lose out on two points.

Can they get back to winning ways this time?

Cardiff meanwhile are loving life up in 14th.

The Bluebirds have now won 4 of their last 5 home games.

Fulham, Brighton, Wolves and most recently Southampton have all travelled west to the Cardiff City Stadium and been beaten.

Callum Paterson scored the only goal of the game with just 13 minutes to go to see off the Saints.

Their home and away form is chalk and cheese though.

They’ve lost their last 6 away matches and have picked up just one point on the road.

That came at Huddersfield way back on 25 August in a goalless draw.

Can they pick up a valuable point or even all three?

After a very good performance on Monday, Javi Gracia is unlikely to make too many changes.

Ben Foster has played every minute in goal since joining from West Bromwich Albion in the summer.

Kiko Femenía has displaced fellow Spaniard Marc Navarro at right-back.

Abdoulaye Doucouré shone on Monday night, capping off a fantastic performance with a goal.

Domingos Quina made his full Premier League debut on Monday and will retain his place as Étienne Capoue is serving the third of his three game suspension.

Ken Sema too made his Premier League debut in that match but Gerard Deulofeu’s bright performance off the bench should see him get a start.

Roberto Pereyra is Watford’s top scorer with 5 but he hasn’t netted since Watford’s last win on 27 October.

Adalberto Peñaranda could be on the bench after a long term injury.

Andre Gray is out though so Isaac Success will partner captain Troy Deeney.

This team looks strong and it should have enough to beat Cardiff.

As for Cardiff, after a good win, there’s no reason for Neil Warnock to change his side.

Neil Etheridge has made 57 saves in the Premier League this season, only two goalkeepers have made more.

Three of the back four have played at least 15 of their 17 matches this season.

Aron Gunnarsson, Harry Arter and Víctor Camarasa are a strong midfield trio.

Nathaniel Mendez-Laing started for the first time since September on Saturday after a long term injury but his impressive performance will see him retain his place.

With no Danny Ward or Kenneth Zohore, Callum Patterson will lead the line.

However, he’s doing a pretty good job having scored 4 goals already this season.

Can this Cardiff side get a famous away win?
