Watford vs Burnley betting tips: Premier League match preview & predictions

Watford vs Burnley prediction: Watford 2-0 Burnley

Two in-form teams meet at Vicarage Road.

Watford are up to seventh and are on course for their best league finish since 1983.

Burnley meanwhile are in terrific form and, in recent weeks, have climbed away from danger.

Who’ll keep their respective good runs going?

Watford vs Burnley: Who will win?

Watford, as the home side, are favourites at 8/13 to win.

Burnley meanwhile have only won 2 away matches this season and are 9/2 to make that 3.

A draw, which Sean Dyche would probably take, is 29/10.

Under 2.5 goals is 5/6 and both teams to score no is also 5/6.

Watford to win and both teams to score no is 7/4.

Gerard Deulofeu has been in decent form in his new found central striker role for Watford. The Spanish international is 6/1 to score first and 15/8 to net anytime.

Chris Wood has scored 3 in his last 4. The New Zealand forward is 17/2 to break the deadlock and 14/5 to score in 90 minutes.

Both Deulofeu and Deeney to score is 8/1.

Watford vs Burnley: Match preview

Watford are up to seventh after a very successful run of results.

Just before Christmas, they ended a run of 6 games without a win by beating Cardiff and then West Ham.

On Boxing Day, Chelsea did leave Vicarage Road with a 2-1 win but that is Watford’s only defeat in 6.

Since, they’ve drawn 1-1 with Newcastle and 3-3 at Bournemouth.

Last Saturday, they came from behind to win 2-1 at Crystal Palace; they’ve now won as many away matches this season then they did in the entirety of last (4).

They’re even stronger at home so will it be another win for Javi Gracia’s team?

Will Burnley win again?

On Boxing Day when Sean Dyche’s side were humbled 5-1 at home by Everton, things looked very bleak.

However, they’ve since won all 4 of their matches beating West Ham, Huddersfield and Fulham as well as Barnsley in the FA Cup.

Last weekend’s 2-1 home win over Fulham was remarkable as they became only the sixth team to win a Premier League match without having a shot on target.

This was possible because Fulham scored 2 own goals in the space of 3 minutes.

All that means that Burnley are now up to 15th in the table but there is still only a 3 point gap between them and the drop zone.

Can their amazing winning run go on?

After an impressive comeback win last weekend, Javi Gracia is unlikely to make any changes to his starting XI.

Ben Foster has played every minute of every match in goal, conceding just 32 goals in 22 matches.

Kiko Femenía is now established as the first choice right-back ahead of Marc Navarro and Daryl Janmaat.

Adrian Mariappa will also retain his place at centre-back but Christian Kabasele could return to the squad after injury.

Only one player has put in more crosses in the Premier League than left-back José Cholevas’ 158.

Abdoulaye Doucouré has been heavily linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain in this window.

But, for now, he remains a Watford player and he’ll partner Étienne Capoue in central-midfield.

Will Hughes will keep his place ahead of Ken Sema on the right; Hughes scored in the 3-1 win at Turf Moor in August.

Troy Deeney also scored in that match.

He, alongside Gerard Deulofeu, will cause Burnley’s back line problems.

This solid side should have enough to beat Burnley.

Burnley team news vs Watford

Burnley too claimed a vital win last weekend so are unlikely to make any changes to their side.

Tom Heaton has been on the winning side in all 3 of the matches he’s featured in this season; will that become 4?

James Tarkowski has made the most blocks in the Premier League (34) closely followed by Ben Mee (29) and Charlie Taylor (24).

Dwight McNeil’s superb form is another reason behind their recent run.

He may only be 19 but he’s establishing himself as an undroppable player in this team.

On the other flank, Jeff Hendrick was heavily involved in both of the goals last Saturday even if both went down as own goals.

The Ireland international will keep his place even if Jóhann Berg Guðmundsson is back from injury.

Robbie Brady is serving the final game of his 3 match suspension and Aaron Lennon is out with a long-term knee injury.

Up front, it’ll be Wood and Barnes again.

They have 7 goals between them this season so can they add to that here?

Despite their recent good run, the Clarets will do well to leave Hertfordshire with anything.
