Sarr’s time at Rennes
Ismaila Sarr has been honing his craft at Rennes for the past two seasons.
The youngster joined the Ligue 1 side from FC Metz on July 26th 2017, for a fee believed to be around £15.3m.
During his first season at Rennes, the 21-year-old scored five and assisted five in 27 games across all competitions.
Sarr had a much better 2018/19 campaign, that saw him score 13 and assist 11 in 50 games for Rennes.
Sarr also has some Europe League experience, as he scored four and assisted three in nine EL outings this past season.
While Sarr is naturally a right-winger, he is very versatile and is capable of playing on the left-wing and also as a centre-forward.
Watford eyeing Sarr
Now, it looks as though Sarr could be on his way to the Premier League.
According to Sky Sports News, Watford are increasingly hopeful of reaching an agreement with Rennes for the transfer of Sarr.
Sky claims that the two clubs have been in negotiations for Sarr for two weeks. And, should he sign for the Hornets, it would be a club-record deal:
Any eventual fee, which is expected to be somewhere between Watford’s £20m valuation of Sarr and the Ligue 1 side’s £27m asking price, will break Watford’s £18m record transfer fee, spent on striker Andre Gray in 2017.
Finally, as per Sky, Sarr’s move to Watford could be delayed, due to the winger being on an extended break after reaching the AFCON final with Senegal.
