Watford in talks to sign Danny Welbeck & Ismaila Sarr ‘agrees’ deal to move

Watford in talks to sign Danny Welbeck

Now a free agent after his contract at Arsenal expired at the end of last season, Danny Welbeck could join Watford.

The Daily Mail’s Sami Mokbel has confirmed that Welbeck is “in talks with Watford, who are trying to conclude a deal in next 24 hours.”

While Watford may be trying to wrap up a deal for Welbeck quickly, it’s worth noting that the transfer window deadline doesn’t apply to free agents.

At the time of writing, it’s unclear how much Watford would pay Welbeck in wages. The length of any possible contract is also unknown.

And another unknown is Welbeck’s fitness.

The striker is returning from a terrible ankle injury which wrecked his 2018-19 season. Welbeck has a long history of injury problems.

Ismaila Sarr ‘agrees’ deal to move to Watford

Javi Gracia seems ready to stock up on attackers.

Aside from Welbeck, L’Equipe (via Sport Witness) are reporting on Wednesday that Ismaila Sarr has ‘agreed’ a deal to move to Watford.

It’s believed that Watford are willing to agree a five-year contract with the 21-year-old Senegalese winger.

However, the deal now rests with Watford’s ability to strike a deal with Rennes.

L’Equipe say that Watford are willing to offer Rennes 30 million euros up-front, plus a further 5 million euros in add-ons.

Rennes are asking for one lump sum of 37 million euros.
