Watford ‘agree’ Javi Gracia deal before Southampton

Watford ‘agree’ Javi Gracia deal

Watford have yet to confirm the news, but the Times are calling it.

According to the broadsheet, Watford have agreed a new deal with their manager Javi Gracia. The Times confirm:

Javi Gracia has agreed a new three-year contract at Watford.

He will become the first manager to sign a contract extension at Vicarage Road since Malky Mackay seven years ago in a significant change of policy for the club, who have employed ten managers since being bought by Gino Pozzo in the summer of 2012.

Watford’s recent managers

Javi Gracia is the 10th manager to work for Watford under the Pozzo family since they took over the club in 2012.

Prior to his arrival, Marco Silva replaced Walter Mazzarri, who in turn replaced Quique Sánchez Flores.

When the Pozzo family arrived at Watford, Sean Dyche was the manager in the dugout.

The other managers during the Pozzo’s reign at Watford have been Gianfranco Zola, Giuseppe Sannino, Oscar Garcia Junyent, Billy McKinlay and Slavisa Jokanovic.

Southampton vs Watford

Southampton host Watford in the Premier League on Saturday.

Will Mark Hughes lose his job if Southampton lose again?

The Saints come into the match sitting fifth bottom of the division.

Southampton only have seven points from 11 games, while they are just two points above Fulham in last place.

The Saints, who looked shambolic in last weekend’s 6-1 defeat at Man City, are winless in their last seven league matches.

Watford are eighth in the league with 19 points on the board.

However Javi Gracia has a series of selection problems before the trip to St Mary’s.

Etienne Capoue is suspended after picking up five bookings.

Daryl Janmaat, Sebastian Prodl and Tom Cleverley are all out with long term injuries.

There are also doubts over Troy Deeney, who has a thigh problem.
