Watch: Southampton’s Joe Aribo bags solo wonder goal vs Villarreal

The summer arrival was in fine form on Saturday.

Footage of Southampton star Joe Aribo finding the net in spectacular fashion has gone altogether viral across social media this evening.

For those not aware, Ralph Hasenhuttl’s troops were back in action earlier today.

In their final outing ahead of getting the club’s season proper underway against Tottenham in a week’s time, the Saints welcomed Spanish outfit Villarreal to St. Mary’s, for a friendly clash.

And, when all was said and done, it was Unai Emery’s visitors who emerged triumphant, to the tune of a 2-1 victory.

Yeremy Pino was first on target for the Yellow Submarine, before Gerard Moreno bagged the game’s decisive goal with 72 minutes on the clock.

And yet, as alluded to above, it was a member of Hasenhuttl’s Southampton ranks who, in truth, stole the show at St. Mary’s.

The player in question? Summer arrival Joe Aribo.

Midfielder Aribo opted to take his talents to England’s south coast earlier this summer, on the back of a hugely productive spell in Scotland on the books of Rangers.

And, on Saturday, the Nigerian provided fans of his new club with an insight into precisely why those in a position of power at St. Mary’s were so keen on his signature in the first place.

The moment in question arrived shortly after the hour mark.

After surging into Villarreal’s half on the break, Aribo embarked on the most brilliant of individual runs, dancing his way beyond no fewer than four defenders, before picking out the far top corner in style.

Check out the 26-year-old’s solo spectacular in all its glory below:
