Watch: Arsenal loanee Tavares bags stunning goal on Ligue 1 debut

The young defender’s talents were on full display in adding to Marseille’s lead on Sunday


Up-and-coming Arsenal youngster Nuno Tavares kicked his Olympique Marseille adventure into gear in explosive fashion on Sunday evening.

Igor Tudor’s men are currently locked in action.

In the club’s opening fixture of the Ligue 1 campaign, Marseille welcomed Stade de Reims to the Stade Velodrome, keen to kick things off in positive fashion.

And, as things stand, all three points is precisely what OM appear to be headed towards.

The evening’s scoring was opened inside the 15-minute mark, upon Reims’ Wout Faes turning into his own net.

Then, on the stroke of the interval, that man Tavares firmly stole the show.

After being picked out high on the left flank, full-back Tavares cut inside, skipping beyond a pair of defenders onto the edge of the visitors’ penalty area.

And, from here, Tavares showcased his impressive ability with both feet, rifling a pinpoint effort into the far bottom corner courtesy of his unfavoured right foot:
