Watch Arsenal & Liverpool youngsters combine to net crucial winner for England U21s

A pair of youngsters representing two of the Premier League’s biggest clubs combined to guide England’s U21 side past Andorra on Monday evening.

Arsenal man makes the difference

Lee Carsley’s men returned to action a short time ago.

After throwing away a two-goal advantage to eventually succumb to a 2-2 stalemate with Slovenia late last week, the Young Lions tonight made the trip to minnows Andorra, aware that nothing but a 3-point haul would do to keep their hopes of a spot at the European Championships alive.

And, when all was said and done, secure all three points is precisely what England managed… just.

Upon Rhian Brewster being sent on his way for a 2nd bookable offence early in the 2nd-half, it looked as though another altogether underwhelming evening’s work lay in store for the visitors at the Estadi Nacional.

This was until the 66th-minute, when a lightning breakaway stemming from an Andorran corner saw returning Liverpool man Curtis Jones slip in Emile Smith Rowe.

The Young Lions, in turn, saw out the remainder of the clash clinging to their slender advantage, to move within two points of both the Czech Republic and Albania in the Group G table.

ESR rewarded

A first-ever goal on the international stage aside, match-winner Smith Rowe was also recognised for his latest starring display by England’s supporters, on the back of the full-time whistle in Andorra.

The Arsenal midfielder beat out competition from the likes of Tino Livramento and the aforementioned Jones to secure Man of the Match honours on Monday night:
