Wales boss Ryan Giggs provides injury update on Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey

Wales manager Ryan Giggs this morning provided a brief update on the fitness of sidelined Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey.

Wales back in action

Giggs’ men welcomed Trinidad & Tobago to the Racehorse Ground on Wednesday, for a friendly matchup.

The hosts eventually emerged with a hard-fought 1-0 win, courtesy of Liverpool youngster Ben Woodburn’s injury-time strike.

And Wales’ final outing of the international break, set to take place tomorrow afternoon, will see them host Slovakia at the Cardiff City stadium, in a European Championship qualifier.

Ramsey crocked

One player whom the Dragons will be unable to call on tomorrow, however, is star midfielder Aaron Ramsey.

Ryan Giggs confirmed on Tuesday that the 28-year-old had picked up a thigh problem in training, and that Ramsey was set to miss his side’s meeting with Trinidad & Tobago.

However, the Wales boss remained hopeful that the soon-to-be former Arsenal man would be fit to feature versus Slovakia.

‘It’s a blow’

But, as confirmed by Giggs during a press conference this morning, Ramsey’s injury concern appears worse than initially feared, with the midfielder having been forced to return to North London for treatment:

‘We hoped Aaron would make it but he has gone back to Arsenal.’

‘It’s a blow.’

‘We have plan B and we’ve worked on it during the week. He was in good form but it gives a chance for someone else.’
