Huddersfield Town 1 – Watford 0
Save for an act of God, Huddersfield Town will stay in the Premier League this season.
Last weekend’s 1-0 win over Watford added a huge three points to Huddersfield’s tally.
The Terriers are 15th in the division, with 35 points on the board after 34 games. They are seven points clear of the drop zone.
Tom Ince was the hero against the Hornets. Ince scored a crucial late winner in an otherwise forgettable game.
Huddersfield have matches against Everton, Man City, Chelsea and Arsenal before the end of the season.
Will they pick up another Premier League point this campaign?
David Wagner & Southampton
In the Sun on Tuesday, it’s reported that Huddersfield Town are now hoping to lock manager David Wagner down to a new contract.
Wagner is to be offered a new two-year deal “on better terms and bonuses”.
The German is currently under contract at the John Smith’s Stadium until 2019.
Interestingly, the tabloid claim that Southampton are considering a move for Wagner in the summer.
Southampton gave Mark Hughes a contract under the end of the season following Mauricio Pellegrino’s dismissal.
Of course the Saints are in deep relegation trouble. Third from bottom, they are five points adrift of safety.
Would Wanger prefer to stay with Huddersfield in the Premier League, or move to Southampton in the Championship?
It would seem like a no-brainer.
Wagner’s Huddersfield bonus
The Sun have also revealed Wagner’s bonus for keeping Huddersfield up.
The German is to received 1.3 million pounds as a bonus for being the club’s “miracle worker”.
