Vinicius Junior & Real Madrid
Back in May, Real Madrid confirmed the signing of the next Brazilian wonderkid: Vinicius Junior.
Vinicius Junior was just 16-years-old when he agreed to join Real Madrid. Los Blancos stumped up a staggering fee in the region of £40 million to sign the teenager from Flamengo.
But rather than move to Spain immediately, Real Madrid agreed that Vinicius Junior should stay on loan with current side Flamengo for another year, before making the step-up to the Bernabeu at the beginning of the 2018/19 season.
‘I want to stay at Flamengo’
This weekend Vinicius Junior has spoke out about hi timetable for joining Real Madrid.
The 17-year-old has made 34 first-team appearances for Flamengo this year, scoring four goals.
Looking to progress at a club who are giving him opportunities, Vinicius Junior has now confirmed he wants to delay his move to Los Blancos.
He wants to push back his Real Madrid move until the start of the 2019/20 season. He said:
We haven’t decided anything.
I have been on vacation for the past three days. We are going to think about it in the new year, but I hope to stay [in Rio] until the end of 2018.
I want to win the Copa Libertadores and then go to Real Madrid.
Whether Real Madrid are open to Vinicius Junior’s request remains to be seen.
Flamengo recently lost in the Copa Sudamericana final to Argentine side Independiente.
Real Madrid win the FIFA Club World Cup
It was another great weekend for Real Madrid as they won the Real Madrid win the FIFA Club World Cup.
A Cristiano Ronaldo free-kick was enough for Real Madrid to beat Gremio in the final 1-0.
It’s been a remarkable 2017 for Madrid as they also lifted the La Liga and Champions League trophies.
