Paris Saint-Germain summer signing Achraf Hakimi has been heavily targeted by the home crowd at the French Super Cup showpiece this evening.
Xeka on target
Mauricio Pochettino’s men are currently locked in their first competitive fixture of the new campaign.
After clinching glory in the Coupe de France last time out, the capital giants have been tasked with getting the better of Lille in the Trophee des Champions on Saturday night.
As things stand, however, PSG have it all to do.
With the likes of Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and new signing Sergio Ramos not yet available for selection following their respective summer vacations, Pochettino was forced to field a severely weakened XI for this evening’s clash.
And Lille, thus far, have taken full advantage of the struggles of their below-strength opponents.
The French champions lead by a goal to nil, after Xeka opened the game’s scoring on the stroke of the interval, courtesy of a thunderous right-footed drive:
That is a rocket!

As outlined above, though, it is not the action on the pitch itself which has taken centre stage at Bloomfield Stadium in Tel Aviv thus far this evening.
Instead, this comes in the form of ongoings in the crowd.
Those in attendance, largely of an Israeli background, have singled PSG full-back Achraf Hakimi out for heavy boos and jeers, each and every time the Moroccan is in possession of the ball:

An explanation for such actions, meanwhile, has since been forthcoming, after Hakimi took to social media to make clear his support for Palestine, amid the height of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict back in May:
PSG are taking on Lille in Tel Aviv, Israel for the French Supercup. No major action so far in the first 10 minutes, but Achraf Hakimi is being loudly booed every time he touches the ball…here’s why. pic.twitter.com/Cowg1xI42d

Viewers from across the globe, in turn, have flooded to Twitter, with the vast majority having provided their backing to PSG’s under-fire summer addition:
Playing this match in Israel was a bad idea, these idiots keep booing Hakimi.

Hakimi is a tough lad who thrives even more under animosity and pressure.
