Video: Man City’s Cole Palmer, hours after lining out for first-team, nets brilliant hat-trick at U23 level

The name of Manchester City talent Cole Palmer has stolen the headlines at the club on Saturday evening, and for very, very good reason.

KDB amongst the goals

Pep Guardiola’s first-team squad were of course back in action earlier this afternoon.

In their first outing post-international break, the Sky Blues welcomed struggling Burnley to the Etihad, for a Premier League clash.

City headed into proceedings aware that nothing but a 3-point haul would do, after seeing Liverpool surge clear at the summit of the English top-flight courtesy of a 5-0 drubbing of Watford.

And, when all was said and done, secure a 5th win of the league campaign is precisely what Guardiola and co. managed.

Despite not being at their scintillating best, strikes on the part of Bernardo Silva and Kevin De Bruyne ensured that the Citizens emerged on the right side of a 2-0 final scoreline.

Palmer at the treble

As outlined above, though, on a day when the club’s most high-profile names dealt with business in an impressive manner, it is not the likes of the aforementioned Silva or De Bruyne who have taken the headlines on the blue half of Manchester.

Instead, this honour has been reserved for youngster Cole Palmer.

Midfielder Palmer, who netted his first goal at senior level during a League Cup meeting with Wycombe Wanderers late last month, was handed his 2nd Premier League appearance versus Burnley, emerging from the bench late in the action at the Etihad.

The highly-regarded starlet’s work for the day, however, did not finish upon the final whistle sounding versus the Clarets.

With Man City’s U23 side in action versus Leicester tonight, Palmer made the short trip to the club’s Academy Stadium, to line out for Brian Barry-Murphy’s outfit.

Not only that, but Palmer went on to prove the star of the show, netting a sumptuous hat-trick, the 2nd and 3rd of which are showcased below:
