Video: Cristiano Ronaldo under investigation amid claims of swatting Everton fan's phone

Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo is understood to be under investigation, after footage centering on the Portuguese surfaced on the back of his side's defeat to Everton on Saturday afternoon.

The clip in question came to the fore on social media a short time ago.

In it, the aforementioned Ronaldo, looking altogether forlorn, can be seen making his way from the pitch towards the tunnel at Goodison Park.

As the veteran hitman passes beyond one Everton fan in particular, though, he can be seen lashing out.

In turn, eye witnesses are understood to have claimed that Ronaldo slapped a mobile phone from the hands of the Toffees supporter in question, which could then be heard hitting the ground below.

Check out footage of the incident below:

Should Ronaldo indeed be found guilty of swatting a phone onto the ground on his way off the pitch on Saturday, it would only add further to what proved an absolutely miserable afternoon's work for the Portuguese at Goodison Park.

As alluded to above, United, in the end, fell to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Everton, a result which all but ended the club's hopes of clinching a top-4 berth come the campaign's conclusion.

Not only that, but a series of photos to have surfaced post-match showcased a pair of nasty gashes suffered by the 5-time Ballon d'Or winner at the hands of the hosts' defenders:
