Video: Barcelona fans make feelings with Martin Braithwaite clear as explanation provided for Christensen absence

The buildup to the latest Joan Gamper Trophy has given rise to plenty of talking points

Those of a Barcelona persuasion have had their attentions piqued by a pair of developments in the buildup to the club’s meeting with Pumas UNAM.

Xavi Hernandez’s troops are set to play out the final fixture of the club’s pre-season schedule in short order.

In the latest edition of the famed Joan Gamer Trophy clash, the Blaugrana have welcomed Mexican outfit Pumas to the Camp Nou.

Prior to the action getting underway in Catalunya, Barca, in turn, introduced Xavi’s first-team personnel for the season ahead to the club’s supporters in attendance.

And one individual whose unveiling did not go at all according to plan comes in the form of Martin Braithwaite.

Amid widespread frustration with the efforts of the Dane to avoid a Barcelona departure this summer, the Blaugrana’s supporters made their feelings clear, raining down on Braithwaite with a chorus of boos and jeers:

Elsewhere, turning attentions towards the action itself on Sunday, an explanation has too been provided for the absence of Andreas Christensen from Barca’s matchday setup versus Pumas.

Stopper Christensen of course opted to swap Stamford Bridge for the Camp Nou this summer, in turn expected to feature in at least some capacity this evening.

As per an official statement across the Catalans’ social media platforms, though, the former Chelsea star has been ruled out owing to what has been described as ‘cervical discomfort’.
