€18m Arsenal bid rejected for Shkodran Mustafi

Rumoured to have a €50m release clause, Valencia defender Shkodran Mustafi was the subject of an €18m (£15.2m) bid from Arsenal which has been immediately rejected.

A serious injury to veteran German centre half Per Mertesacker appears to have forced Arsene Wenger into the search for a new central defender.

According to Valencia based media outlet Plaza Deportiva, Valencia rejected an initial bid of €18m (£15.2m) from Arsenal and are reportedly holding out for €25-30m for their key defender.

Mustafi wants Arsenal move

Once a youngster at Everton, Plaza Deportiva believe Shkodran Mustafi is very open to a move to North London and is attracted to the idea of playing Champions League football.

It was today also reported that Riyad Mahrez is determined to move to Arsenal – the Gunners just need to start actually paying up!

24-year-old Shkodran Mustafi has spent two years at Valencia, having signed for €8m in 2014 after earning himself a reputation at Serie A Sampdoria.
