Kondogbia on Messi
Valencia midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia’s recent interview with the Spanish press has caused a bit of stir.
Except, it hasn’t. According to the Spanish club, the news outlet manipulated Kondogbia’s words where he is reported to have said that Barcelona’s Lionel Messi is the greatest player in the world.
Kondogbia supposedly said: “Madrid missing the best? I did not know Messi played for Real Madrid.”
Valencia are denying these quotes.
Kondogbia has only just joined Valencia on loan from Inter Milan, but the 24-year-old Frenchman says he expects to remain at the club for a “long time”.
Why the club felt the need to clarify this is a bit of a mystery, although some reckon that super agent Jorge Mendes is behind it.
Sure, the report by Sport was a false one, but the Valencia statement now seems like either a dig at Lionel Messi or praise for Cristiano Ronaldo.
VCF wish to categorically deny non-existent statements falsely attributed to Kondogbia in reference to the footballer Leo Messi.
