US National team officials are targeting a huge move for a top European manager following Bruce Arena’s resignation last week.
The side crashed out of the World Cup after a poor qualification campaign which was ended by a defeat to Trinidad and Tobago.
The US team needed to win the game to go through but that was too big of an ask for Arena’s side who fell at the final hurdle.
That lead to Arena’s resignation last week but there may well be a silver lining after all.
That is because former France and Paris Saint Germain manager Laurent Blanc is reportedly interested in the job.
Not only that, the interest is mutual which could see a deal move swiftly to bring in the French manager.
That would certainly be seen as a coup for the side with such a big name boss coming in to try and sort out their woes.
Reports reveal that Blanc was supposedly waiting for a club from the top five leagues to offer him something but that didn’t come.
Now, it looks as though Blanc could return to international management following a spell with the French national team between 2010 and 2012.
While Blanc is no doubt the biggest name to be linked with a move, there are also other candidates.
Current US U20’s manager Tab Ramos has put his name forward for the job.
No doubt though, all American fans will be wanting to see legendary Laurent Blanc in the dugout for the foreseeable future.
Laurent Blanc is being considered for the #USMNT job according to French Media this morning.

The world laughs at the USA
It certainly wasn’t the ending to a World Cup qualifying campaign they would have hoped for.
In fact, it was the complete opposite and the world took note.
The backlash was huge and social media was filled with criticism and laughter at the side.
