Updates surface on sidelined Liverpool pair ahead of Man United

Updates on the fitness of a pair of Liverpool stars have been forthcoming on Thursday evening.

Rivals reunite

Jurgen Klopp’s men will of course be back in Premier League action this weekend.

After seeing off Atletico Madrid to make it a perfect nine points from nine in the Champions League on Tuesday, the Reds are set to turn their attentions back towards matters on the domestic front.

And what a fixture lies in store.

Liverpool will make the trip to Old Trafford on Sunday evening, to face off with fierce rivals Manchester United.

Another 3-point haul looks firmly on the cards for the visitors, who, amid a stellar stretch of form, will no doubt be keen to take full advantage of a United side who have taken just a solitary point from their last three Premier League fixtures.

Form, though, so often goes out the window when it comes to fixtures of the magnitude of Manchester United vs Liverpool.

In turn, it goes without saying that Jurgen Klopp will be desperate to have as many of his key performers fit and available as possible in 72 hours’ time.

And, as outlined above, on Thursday evening, an update on the wellbeing of two such players – in the form of Thiago Alcantara and Curtis Jones – has been forthcoming online.

The info comes courtesy of Anfield Watch, citing The Mirror’s David Maddock.

The aforementioned Klopp is expected to have midfield talent Jones back and available to feature versus United.

Thiago, however, looks altogether unlikely to take to the pitch at Old Trafford, with the Spaniard instead primed to return to first-team training over the coming week:
