Updates on Wolves pair Ruben Neves & Willy Boly ahead of Sheffield United

Ruben Neves

Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Nuno Espirito Santo this afternoon provided a fitness update on his squad, ahead of the club’s upcoming meeting with Sheffield United.

Back on track

Nuno and co. are set to return to action tomorrow night.

The West Midlands outfit will welcome basement dwellers Sheffield United to Molineux, for a Premier League clash.

Wolves head into the matchup with their tails up, on the back of a much-needed, timely victory last time out.

On the back of 5 straight outings without a win, a trip to Craven Cottage to take on relegation battling Fulham eventually saw the visitors emerge on the right side of a 1-0 scoreline.

In turn, Wolves now sit a full 12 points clear of the drop zone, with the club’s top-flight status all but secured for another season.

And Nuno Santo will no doubt have his eyes firmly set on another 3-point haul this weekend, with upcoming opponents Sheffield United having of course endured a nightmare campaign to date.

Wolves’ plans to bag a 2nd successive victory, however, will be hampered by a whole host of problems on the personnel front.

Earlier this week, it was confirmed that star attacker Pedro Neto is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines, after being forced under the knife to resolve a knee problem.

News of the Portuguese’s blow came just a week after it was revealed that Jonny Otto will also sit out the remainder of the season and beyond, with yet another ACL injury.

Raul Jimenez and Marcal, meanwhile, remain long-term absentees.

Wolves’ woes, however, do not end with fitness issues.

In addition, both Willy Boly and Ruben Neves recently returned positive Covid-19 tests, forcing the pair into self isolation.

In turn, the subject of the key duo’s wellbeing understandably took centre stage in Nuno’s latest press conference this afternoon.

And the Wolves boss went on to confirm that defender Boly has rejoined group training ahead of Sheffield United. Neves, though, remains unavailable for selection:
