Mahrez wants out
Riyad Mahrez wants out of Leicester City and he wants it so badly that he’s willing to take a pay cut.
The Leicester Mercury reports that the Algerian star is ready to slash his wages in order to aid an AS Roma move. However, a deal is far from in place due to how low the Italian club are bidding in relation to his price-tag.
Leicester have already swatted away a €23 million bid from Roma. They’re reading an improved €30m offer but at about £26m that’s around half of the club’s £50m valuation. Mahrez may have to do more work than Roma for this deal.
Mahrez, who announced in May that he wanted to leave the club, must be desperate for a move away. He’s willing to go from £100,000-a-week to around £60,000-a-week. His profile and ability demand a greater wage.
Roma will certainly have to offer significantly more than €30m. Not only is Mahrez a star at Leicester, he’s a former PFA Player of the Year and only 26-years-old. That’s without taking the inflated market into account.
Arsenal are also believed to be interested but reports of their interest are scarce in recent days.
