Could Ozil force himself into the Arsenal team?
Arsenal boss Unai Emery has provided an update on Mesut Ozil’s fitness ahead of their clash with Huddersfield at the weekend.
The Gunners may have been slightly off colour during the game with Manchester United but have had a pretty impressive season so far.
That was emphasised by their comeback win over Tottenham last weekend having been down 2-1 at one point in the game.
One player who has not played that big of a part in Arsenal’s impressive season so far is Mesut Ozil.
The German hasn’t had the best 12 months, especially over the summer.
The midfielder was part of the Germany side who flopped at the group stages of the World Cup.
He then faced problems with the German FA and eventually retired from international duty.
Since returning to Arsenal, he’s only made 10 appearances scoring three goals and assisting one.
One of the reasons he has been out of the squad recently is injury and Unai Emery has now given an update on his fitness.
Potential to play against Huddersfield
The Spaniard has revealed that Ozil is in contention to play against Huddersfield this weekend after a back problem kept him out of the game with Man United.
He explains that the club will make the decision tomorrow whether he is fit enough to play.
“He had backache and now he is working with the physio and we are looking at when he can play with us,” Emery explained in his press conference.
“Tomorrow is the decision for whether he can play Saturday.”
