Unai Emery doesn’t think he has a communication problem with Arsenal players

Saka & Smith question Emery’s English/communication

Unai Emery took charge of Arsenal last summer, taking the reins from Arsene Wenger.

Emery had never managed in England before, and is from Spain.

But the Spaniard’s communication skills/English, according to some people, isn’t that good.

Arsenal youngster Bukayo Saka has spoken about Emery’s English, stating that sometimes he does not understand the former PSG manager, and has better communication with Freddie Ljungberg:

“It helps so much [to have Ljungberg there].

“Sometimes when I don’t understand, when the coach is trying to communicate with me, I have a better communication with Freddie, he speaks better English.”

Arsenal legend Alan Smith has also claimed that some players find Emery’s instructions confusing:

“I have heard whispers that some of the players find their manager’s instructions confusing.

“That they do not really know what he wants them to do.” As quoted by Goal.

However, Emery has denied having communication problems, and mentioned Saka specifically.

When asked if communication was a problem at London Colney, Emery stated:

“I think no.

“I have conversations particularly with Bukayo and Freddie does the same with individual players, not only with Saka.

“Also I spoke to Saka alone in my office and prepared sometimes some videos [for him]. I have also done videos with English players, Spanish players, German players, French players.” As quoted by Goal.

Man United vs Arsenal

Arsenal are now set to take on Manchester United on Monday evening.

The Gunners head into the clash in 8th spot in the Premier League table, but they can move as high as 4th with a win over Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.

As for Man United, they should be looking to bounce back from their 2-0 defeat to West Ham in their last league outing.

Both Arsenal and Man United will be in action once again on Thursday in Europa League ties.
