UEFA give bizarre reason for not doing minute’s silence for Istanbul victims at Euro 2016

UEFA refuse to mourn Turkish terrorist attack

A gun and suicide attack on Istanbul’s Ataturk airport yesterday killed 41 people but UEFA have made a conscious decision not to pay their respects in the quarter finals.

It was today confirmed that UEFA would not hold a minute’s silence before the quarter-final matches because Turkey were no longer part of the competition.

Turkey took part in the group stage and their are still various players in Euro 2016 who ply their trade in the Turkish Super Lig.

UEFA’s reasoning makes no sense because Turkey were one of the “participating teams” or do we no longer care about humanity because they’ve been knocked out a football competition?

Decision met with outrage on social media

Turkish football fans were understandably worked up by the news that no minute’s silence would take place ahead of this weekend’s quarter-final matches.
