Premier League team of the week – Gameweek 9
Another fascinating Premier League weekend has come to a close and Garth Crooks is once again here with his team of the week for the BBC.
As ever, it isn’t too hard to find flaws in the structure of Crooks’ side and you wonder how this team would defend in the middle of the park.
And, three out-and-out strikers may struggle to play together as well.
3 Brighton players & 2 Huddersfield stars make it
Brighton have the most players in the BBC team of the week, thanks to their excellent 3-0 win at West Ham on Friday night.
Lewis Dunk, Shane Duffy and two-goal hero Glenn Murray are all included in the Premier League team of the week.
Huddersfield’s reward for their win over Manchester United on Saturday afternoon, sees Thomas Smith and Aaron Mooy involved.
4 players from Spurs & Man City
As the weeks go by, it is looking increasingly likely that the Premier League title race could well be between Tottenham and Manchester City.
Certainly, we will know a lot more when Spurs play at Manchester United next Saturday lunchtime.
In the team of the week, Spurs have two men from their win over Liverpool: Harry Kane and Hugo Lloris.
Whilst Kane scored two goals, Lloris made some excellent saves including a brilliant stop from Philippe Coutinho.
Lloris has been in incredible form of late, making world class saves against Bournemouth, Real Madrid and Liverpool.
Kevin De Bruyne & Sergio Aguero from Man City
The Manchester City contingent from their win over Burnley is Kevin De Bruyne and Sergio Aguero.
Arguably, Leroy Sane had a better game than Aguero, scoring and assisting in the match.
Perhaps Aguero’s inclusion is thanks to hitting 177 Manchester City goals, which equals the club record for goals.
The team is completed by Mesut Ozil who starred for Arsenal at Everton. And, Riyad Mahrez who bagged two assists for Leicester.
