Mata’s United days numbered?
With Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan signing for Manchester United this weekend, Ed Woodward and Jose Mourinho have laid down a marker for next season.
Mourinho will surely be planning on making both players regulars in his starting lineup, which means there will be some casualties.
Juan Mata’s place was already quite precarious at United under Louis van Gaal, and the feeling is that his situation is going to become even more complicated following the arrival of Jose Mourinho.
Mourinho of course famously took Mata out of the Chelsea team back in 2013, much to the shock of Blues fans, who had voted him as their player of the year the previous season.
Mata to Everton?
Mata was eventually sold to Manchester United that following January, but his days at Old Trafford may now be numbered.
We already saw a possible sign that Mourinho was plotting to offload Mata at Zlatan’s unveiling yesterday, and a rumour is now swirling around Twitter that he’s agreed personal terms with Everton.
No particularly reliable source has reported the story yet, but there may be a case of smoke and fire here….
