Manchester City celebrate vs Spurs

Twitter reacts to Sterling being dropped for Liverpool v Man City clash

Before the line-ups for Liverpool’s clash against Manchester City in the Champions League were released, everyone wondered just who out of Kevin De Bruyne and Mo Salah would come out on top and tip the scales in one side’s favour.

Both have been brilliant all season, and are the stand out contenders for Player of the Season, and all the focus before the all-English tie was on them.

However, there was an interesting sub plot – how well Raheem Sterling would perform at Anfield given his time at Liverpool and the way the fans now see him – yet City manager Pep Guardiola decided to remove him from the firing line and opt for Gondogan instead and many Liverpool fans thought Sterling had been dropped because he couldn’t cope with the crowd and would be ‘pocketed’ by their full back.

Both City and Liverpool fans took to Twitter to talk about Sterling being missing, and it was some read.
