Tunisia vs Mali live streaming: Match preview

What a start that was for Mali.

They took on tournament debutants Mauritania on Monday and, even though they were expected to win, they did so emphatically.

It took them 37 minutes to make the breakthrough but it was worth the wait; Abdoulay Diaby firing an absolute screamer into the top corner.

Soon after it was 2-0.

Lassana Coulibaly was brought down by the goalkeeper and Moussa Marega slotted home the resulting spot-kick.

Early in the second half, Monaco’s Adama Traoré made it three, finding into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.

Mauritania did pull one back from the penalty spot but they were back in it for all of two minutes.

Bizarrely, a different Adama Traoré (this one plays for Orléans) made it 4-1 with another stupendous strike.

An excellent win for a very talented side.

Tunisia were the other big favourites in this group but they did not get off to a winning start.

Alain Giresse’s side did actually take the lead though against Angola.

Just after the half hour mark, Naïm Sliti was fouled in the box and Youssef Msakni emphatically dispatched the penalty.

However, with 17 minutes remaining, Angola equalised after a poor bit of goalkeeping from Farouk Ben Mustapha.

Tunisia could not find a winner and 1-1 it finished.

A very disappointing result for a side who were one of just five African Nations at last summer’s World Cup.

That equaliser also means Tunisia have kept just one clean sheet in their last 16 Africa Cup of Nations Games.

They’re really going to have to up their game or Mali will fancy their chances of making it two wins from two.
