Ross Barkley’s future has been one of the dominating stories of the summer, and it seems that while the player does want a move away from big spending Everton this summer, he is not asking for quite what people think.
Barkley had been accused of demanding £150,000 per week from Tottenham Hotspur, which would make him their highest paid player – yet it seems the player has instructed sources to deny that claim.
Source close to Ross Barkley says ‘untrue’ to suggest £150k/week wage demands. Hasn’t asked to be Tottenham’s highest-paid player. #SSNHQ

While signing Barkley would be good for Tottenham, to suggest he should be their highest paid player makes little sense given Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Hugo Lloris to name but three provide a huge amount to the team.
Of course, Everton had been talking about a new deal for the player, and would offer him a payrise, yet it seems Barkley wants to play Champions League football, and despite the narrative in the press, he is more concerned about moving to a club he sees as being bigger than getting a massive pay increase.
