Trust the process? Fabio Paratici outlines ambitions for Tottenham

Tottenham’s rocky start

Tottenham’s start to the season has been something of a mixed bag. Three wins from three were followed by three losses in a row, conceding nine goals in the process, and following a pathetic performance in the north London derby that saw Arsenal run away 3-1 winners, the prospect of Nuno Espirito Santo losing his job seemed an altogether real one.

In the week since, wins at the expense of Slovenian minnows NS Mura and, more recently, Aston Villa have prolonged his stay in north London until at least the international break and, despite the doom and gloom, Spurs remain two points clear of Arsenal.

With games against Newcastle, West Ham and Burnley after the international break, Tottenham will be hoping to put a run of form together to secure Nuno’s future for the season at least.

Paratici discusses Tottenham’s plan

Speaking to Tottenham TV, new Director of Football Fabio Paratici called for patience from the restless Lilywhite faithful, stressing the longevity of the “project” and how it will take time to return to the top of European football.

The Italian outlined:

“Our project is a long term project, we know what we have to do”

“We are just in the beginning of our project. One month ago we spoke about a rebuild. Not build, but a rebuild of the team, and we started in the last transfer window.

“We are happy about Romero, we are happy about all of the signings, Emerson, Bryan Gil… Gollini too was good”.

“We need time. We are very happy about [Japhet] Tanganga, Skippy [Oliver Skipp], also Dane [Scarlett]. They love the club, you feel that they are something special about the club “

“We have a small picture, which is important because it’s this season. Not two months, but six, seven, eight months because we have to achieve our result, to be the best we can be, work hard to win every game that we can win.

“But in the big picture, which is most important, this club has to be like a family”

“You have to believe and to be positive, because this feeling is transmitted to everybody- first of all the players “

Paratici ended his call by reiterating the need for patience, and his aims to build something lasting:

“I want to build something, that’s our target.”

“We have the best infrastructure in the world, we have amazing fans. We have everything to build something really really big”

Will it work out on the white side of north London, or will Spurs find themselves falling further behind the Premier League’s giants in the coming years?
