Watford captain Troy Deeney is expected to miss the club’s third-round Carabao Cup tie with Tottenham Hotspur, according to the Evening Standard.
The striker has admitted that he has played against Manchester United and Fulham with three broken toes.
Deeney is expected to miss the League Cup match on Wednesday but could return to face Arsenal on the weekend.
Evening Standard: ‘Javi Gracia likely to ring the changes’
The Evening Standard expect Javi Gracia to make wholesale changes for Watford’s third-round League Cup tie.
Troy Deeney, who scored against Spurs three weeks ago, is likely to miss the game with broken toes.
Speaking about the injury, Deeney admitted:
“I have to get an X-ray but I played with three broken toes last week so it will be all right.
“I may have a broken bone or two but we’ll crack on. It is what it is. I am a tough, ugly boy.”
The Hornets hope that the striker will return to face Arsenal in the Premier League on Saturday.
Tottenham Hotspur changes vs Watford
Mauricio Pochettino is also expected to make a large number of changes to the line-up that defeated Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday.
The likes of Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen and Toby Alderweireld are all set to be rested.
Youngsters Juan Foyth and Kyle Walker-Peters could be given an opportunity to play at Stadium MK.
Meanwhile, Dele Alli could make his first start since withdrawing from England’s squad with a muscle injury.
