Brazil legend Ronaldinho has had his say on Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho.
The Liverpool midfielder was central to one of the summer’s biggest transfer sagas, with Barcelona heavily linked to the 25-year-old.
Eventually Coutinho remained at Liverpool, but speculation linking him to Spain has still persisted.
Coutinho has been out injured and is a doubt for Liverpool’s weekend clash with Man City, despite being in Brazil’s latest World Cup qualifying squad.
The attacking midfielder may even have a tough time getting into Jurgen Klopp’s starting line-up, with the attacking trio of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane on fire.
He’ll “give everything”
According to Ronaldinho, Coutinho “will give everything” for the Reds, despite handing in a transfer request earlier in the summer.
The former Barcelona star reckons that Coutinho will not jeopardize his chance of making Brazil’s 2018 World Cup squad by kicking up a fuss at Anfield.
“This season they will see him give everything for the club – that is the sort of player he is,” Ronaldinho said.
“Also no player is going to refuse to play when it’s the World Cup at the end of the season.”
“The Liverpool fans have nothing to worry about – I do not believe any of the stories about him refusing to play for the club. I know him that is not his way.”
