Liverpool buy a centre-back

The BBC are amongst the news outlets in England on Monday morning who report that Liverpool are on the verge of a new signing.

Jurgen Klopp has seen Martin Srktel leave Anfield for Fenerbahce while Kolo Toure has been releases. At the same time, Joel Matip has arrived on Merseyside from Schalke, and now the Reds are boosting their back four further.

Again doing his shopping in Germany, Klopp is buying Augsburg centre-back Ragnar Klavan for around 4.2 million pounds.

Klavan is an Estonian international, who played against Liverpool in the Europa League last season.

Now 30, Klavan’s purchase is viewed as provided extra cover for the Reds, rather than the defender becoming a first team regular at Liverpool.

According to reports, the Klavan deal is likely to be completed early this week, with the defender signing an initial two year contract with an option for a third.

So who is Ragnar Klavan?
