What Bernardo Silva has previously said about Mikel Arteta amid Man City star’s links to Arsenal

What Bernardo Silva has previously said about Mikel Arteta amid Man City star’s links to Arsenal

Bernardo Silva wants to leave Man City

Jack Grealish completed his transfer to Manchester City earlier this week.

At the Etihad, it has been reported that Pep Guardiola intends to use Grealish as a no.8, alongside the likes of Kevin De Bruyne and Ilkay Gundogan.

Such a move would of course see Bernardo Silva’s minutes reduced somewhat. As confirmed by Guardiola on Friday, though, the Portuguese has actually already made clear his desire to leave the club.

When quizzed on the possibility of Bernardo moving on, the City boss stated:

“He’s our player. Not just Bernardo, there are two, three or four players that want to leave but they are our players under contract and when they bring some offer and their agents come here and they want to leave we are open to discuss absolutely everything but it depends on them. Otherwise, they will continue training really well, they will stay here and I will decide if they stay or don’t stay. The players who want to leave know the door is open because we don’t want anyone here unsatisfied but they have to bring someone. Otherwise, they will stay here.”

What Silva has said about Mikel Arteta

On the back of these comments, speculation has quickly begun to mount as to where Silva could end up.

One destination touted has been Arsenal, with the Mirror reporting that the Gunners are exploring the possibility of signing the midfielder as a James Maddison alternative.

Mikel Arteta already has first-hand experience of Silva’s talents, following his time as Pep Guardiola’s Man City assistant.

In turn, this weekend, have revealed what the out-of-favour Sky Blues star has previously said about the now-Arsenal boss.

Following his departure from City in 2019, Silva tweeted that Arteta was both ‘a great manager and person’:

“A great manager and person! All the best Mikel.”
