What Arsenal must do to land Youri Tielemans

An insight into Arsenal’s pursuit of Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans has been provided on Wednesday.

This comes with the Belgian out of contract in 2023 and seemingly not eager to put pen to paper on a fresh deal at the King Power.

The former Anderlecht star is a box-to-box midfielder with a keen eye for goal, as shown by his FA Cup-winning strike vs Chelsea last May.

Now, according to the Evening Standard, the Gunners have identified Tielemans as one of their top targets as Mikel Arteta plots another big summer in the transfer market, with his lack of a new deal sparking interest from several clubs including Arsenal.

Barcelona, Tottenham and Real Madrid are also named as interested parties.

But who will Tielemans choose? Well, the ES claim that the 25-year-old is yet to decide his next move but is keen to play in the Champions League.

As a result,  Arsenal would significantly boost their chances of signing him by securing a top-four spot.

Will Arsenal secure Champions League football?

At present, it seems very likely Mikel Arteta’s side will be back in the competition for the first time since 2017 next season.

Arsenal are sat 4th in the Premier League, four points clear of 5th-place Tottenham.

So, even if Tottenham do beat Arsenal in the upcoming north London derby, Spurs would still be one point behind their north London rivals with just two games to play.
