West Ham’s stance on permanent Jesse Lingard deal revealed

West Ham’s stance on permanent Jesse Lingard deal revealed

An insight into West Ham United’s plans for Jesse Lingard beyond the summer has been forthcoming on Tuesday.

Lingard dazzling

Monday night of course saw the name of Manchester United loanee Lingard take centre stage in the English media once more.

This came with West Ham having made the trip to Molineux, for a Premier League showdown with Wolves.

David Moyes’ men headed into proceedings sans the services of star man Declan Rice, after confirmation was forthcoming that the English international is set for a spell on the sidelines with a knee injury.

In turn, the pressure was very much on the Hammers’ other key performers to step up, as the capital outfit aimed to keep their surprise top-4 pursuit alive.

And, when all was said and done, this is precisely what unfolded.

The player to have stepped up? Jesse Lingard.

The attack-minded midfielder opened the scoring in the west Midlands with a stunning solo effort, before also playing a hand in both of the visitors’ other two goals, en route to a 3-2 victory.

‘Whatever it takes’

Lingard’s showing versus Wolves, though, marked far from his first impressive one since swapping Old Trafford for the London Stadium in January.

In fact, across this stretch, the 28-year-old has proven one of the Premier League’s star performers, en route to 6 goals and 3 assists in just eight appearances.

As such, the latest word doing the rounds in the media regarding West Ham’s plans for Lingard beyond the end of his loan deal in the summer should come as little surprise.

As reported by a number of sources this evening, the Irons’ hierarchy are ready to pull out all the stops to convince Manchester United of a permanent sale.

An option to buy was not included in the winter deal struck between the clubs, meaning a considerable fee will likely be required on West Ham’s part.
