West Ham’s David Moyes sends another Declan Rice transfer message to Chelsea following Lampard sacking

Chelsea linked with Declan Rice

Despite his tender years, Declan Rice has been a mainstay in West Ham’s midfield for some time now.

All told, the 21-year-old has notched 130 appearances across all competitions for the Hammers.

So impressive has Rice been off late, meanwhile, that he has actually been handed the captain’s armband by David Moyes throughout much of the campaign to date.

Rice has also established himself as an integral member of Gareth Southgate’s England set-up, notching 10 appearances since his debut in March of 2019.

In turn, such clear quality and potential have inevitably seen Rice pique the attention of one of the Premier League’s heavy-hitters.

The club in question comes in the form of Chelsea, who were heavily linked with the midfielder during the summer transfer window.

Moyes on Rice leaving West Ham

The Blues, along with Manchester United, meanwhile, were again linked with Rice earlier this month.

However, David Moyes responded at the time by assuring that the Hammers had received no bids for their star man.

And now, with Frank Lampard having departed Stamford Bridge, the Scotsman has since been drawn on whether his fears of losing Rice have eased, to which he responded:

“No matter who was the manager at Chelsea, or whoever came in, it would have been the same answer.

“I said it right at the start and I’m only repeating myself – Bank of England money would be required, and you might even need to add Bank of Scotland on to that as well because he has been so good.”
