The protracted transfer saga that is Arsenal’s interest in England star Declan Rice could be set for a final chapter as the Gunners look to deploy a third bid for the West Ham United captain.

Reports from The Daily Mail’s Sami Mokbel suggest that Mikel Arteta and Edu Gaspar are readying an offer to the Hammers that will hit the £100m mark in the wake of champions Manchester City officially entering the race for the 24-year-old.

Much of the Arsenal fanbase achieved full meltdown after reports linked City with the possibility of ghosting in for the midfielder in the eleventh hour despite Rice long considered to be destined to arrive at the Emirates on the back of his desire to remain in London while also compete in the Champions League.

But the club had failed to bring two previous offers to the table that were deemed suitable by West Ham’s leadership, with some even going as far as suggesting that Arsenal’s first advance for Rice was “derisory” at best regarding the structure of the offer rather than the overall package fee.

Arsenal must no move quickly to guarantee they secure Arteta’s top summer target before City have any chance of swaying a player to a club that is arguably the top side on the planet and a near-guarantee pathway to major honors under Pep Guardiola.

Should the Gunners indeed field a £100m proposal, it seems likely that they will get their man after all, adding him to a summer spending directive that also looks set to include Chelsea’s Kai Havertz as well as Ajax Amsterdam’s Jurriën Timber.
