West Ham are getting busy
It’s so far been a rather slow summer transfer window for West Ham.
2016-17 was a hugely trying season for the Hammers. Slaven Bilic had to handle Dimitri Payet’s exit from the club, while the Irons struggled to settle in the London Stadium. In the end West Ham narrowly survived relegation.
So far, the only arrival this summer has been Pablo Zabaleta, who has joined on a free transfer after his Man City contract expired.
But West Ham are poised to added another signing any minute now, with England international goalie Joe Hart joining from the Sky Blues on loan.
Record transfer fee
But that’s not all. West Ham have a third signing up their sleeve, as they are ready to smash their record transfer fee.
The target? Stoke’s Austrian international forward Marko Arnautovic.
The Evening Standard have reported the following:
West Ham’s search for strikers should be rewarded in the next 48 hours, with the signing of Marko Arnautovic from Stoke City.
Standard Sport understands that a £23 million deal for the 28-year-old Austrian international has been agreed and that the player himself has settled personal terms.
It’s worth noting that Arnautovic injured a knee in a pre-season match for Stoke last week. He’s also fallen out with Mark Hughes during the summer.
Andre Ayew is West Ham’s current record signing following his £20.5 million move last summer from Swansea.
