West Ham & Manuel Lanzini
Last weekend in the 4-1 defeat at Anfield in the Premier League, Manuel Lanzini returned to action for West Ham.
The 25-year-old Argentine is one of West Ham’s best players, however he’s only played 17 matches in the league this season.
He’s scored three Premier League goals and chipped in with seven assists.
Liverpool never too far away
For more than a year, rumours have been swirling that Liverpool could try to sign Lanzini.
Indeed, after the Reds sold Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona in the January window, rumours popped up suggesting Liverpool could sign Lanzini as a replacement.
Rumour: Lanzini’s new deal
Lanzini is currently under contract with the Hammers until 2020. But according to West Ham ITK site Claret & Hugh, the Irons are ready to offer their playmaker a new deal:
West Ham will offer Manu Lanzini an improved deal in the summer despite him already being contracted to the club for another two years with a one year option.
We were told by a club insider: “If we stay up a new deal will be on the table for him. However, he has a couple of years left on this one plus another year’s option so there’s no rush. He’s our player.”
Will this rumour prove true?
Swansea vs West Ham
One suspects that Lanzini’s future will be acutely tied to whether West Ham remain a Premier League side next season.
David Moyes has a massive match coming up on Saturday, as the Irons head to relegation rivals Swansea. If Swansea win, they’ll move level on 30 points with West Ham.
Alternatively, if the Hammers can win in Wales they’ll significantly boost their survival hopes.
