Steven N’Zonzi & Arsenal
As the January transfer window opens for business, one of the players tipped for a Premier League move is Steven N’Zonzi.
It’s been clear for a while that N’Zonzi is on the outside at Sevilla.
The 29-year-old French defensive midfielder not featured for Sevilla since the 3-3 draw with Liverpool in the Champions League.
The former Blackburn and Stoke midfielder has been linked with a possible move to either Arsenal or Everton in recent weeks.
Moreover, N’Zonzi has been repeatedly spotted in London. Although his son also lives in the English capital.
West Ham try to ‘hijack’ N’Zonzi deal
On Boxing Day, the Guardian link Steven N’Zonzi with a possible January move to West Ham.
From the Hammers perspective, N’Zonzi would be a brilliant addition in the new year. He’d add significant steal to David Moyes’s midfielder, and he’d provided an alternative to the aging Mark Noble.
The Guardian report the following on N’Zonzi to West Ham:
David Moyes has revealed that he would be interested in signing Steven Nzonzi if Sevilla decide to sell the French midfielder next month.
“I think he’s somebody who would be of interest to us if he came on the market,” Moyes said. “I wouldn’t say that about others but he’s not playing for some reason at Sevilla – albeit the manager’s gone, so maybe that changes the situation there.”
Problems at Sevilla
N’Zonzi joined Sevilla from Stoke in 2015 in a £7 million deal, and he has largely been successful in Spain.
He won the Europa League in 2016, while Sevilla qualified for this year’s Champions League.
N’Zonzi recently discussed his future with France Football:
My future is somewhere else. We just have to wait until December is over and everything will be done.
What hurts is the way everything is going to end. It hurts, of course, but for now the team is functioning. There’s only a short time left, just December to pass, and it is better that my time at Sevilla stops then.
