Chelsea have been linked with a move for Fofana for a while now.
The Blues have already signed one centre-back this summer in the form of Kalidou Koulibaly.
The former Napoli man has settled in quickly to the Premier League but was then sent off last weekend vs Leeds.
Then, after Chelsea lost both Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger for free over the summer, it makes sense for Chelsea, who play three at the back, to want another central defender through the door.
Jules Kounde did look set to be that man, but the Frenchman has now signed for FC Barcelona.
This led to Fofana becoming their no.1 priority, with the defender himself seemingly keen on a move. Fofana removed βLeicester City playerβ from his bio recently.

Leicester fan Gary Linker put out a tweet on Saturday that read: βGutted to lose him but wish Wesley Fofana well. Every player wants to play Champions League football so itβs understandable. Chelsea fans, youβve got the most prodigiously talented young central defender in the world. Yes, I believe heβs that good.β
Fofana responded to said tweet with a crying emoji and two praying emojis:
