Watford & Barcelona’s Paco Alcacer
Are Watford gearing up for their second signing from FC Barcelona this summer?
According to Spanish daily Sport on Thursday, Watford are hoping to sign Barcelona striker Paco Alcacer.
In recent days Alcacer has also been linked with a possible move to Leicester City.
What seems clear is that the 24-year-old forward is surplus to requirements at the Camp Nou.
Alcacer’s loan deal
Barcelona signed Alcacer from Valencia for 30 million euros a couple of years ago.
He’s naturally struggled for game time at Barcelona. That’s not difficult to understand when Leo Messi, Neymar and Ousmane Dembele are all battling for minutes too.
Sport believe that Watford may land Alcacer on a two-year loan deal with a compulsory option to buy. Readers are told:
(Barcelona) are currently negotiating with Premier League side Watford for the striker join them on an initial two-year loan deal. At the end of those two years, Watford would be forced to buy Alcacer outright.
The transfer is moving forward and it’s now down to the player to agree to the move so he can be released from Barca’s US tour.
Alcacer has scored 15 goals in all competitions during his two-year spell with Barcelona.
Watford’s summer business
Watford have completed the signing of Gerard Deulofeu from Barcelona this summer.
Deulofeu, 24, joined Watford on loan last season. Deulofeu made seven Premier League appearances for the Hornets.
He scored one goal and chipped in with one assist during his spell at Vicarage Road.
Elsewhere, Watford have also recruited Ben Foster from West Brom after the Baggies were relegated last term.
Other players who have joined Watford include Marc Navarro Ceciliano, Adam Masina and Ken Sema.
Several players have left the Hornets too. They include Mauro Zarate, Nordin Amrabat and Richarlison.
