Moussa Dembele & Brighton
Last week rumours sprung up claiming Brighton were closing in on Celtic striker Moussa Dembele.
After 21 rounds of the Premier League season, Brighton are 12th in the division. They have 22 points on the board, which is far more than many believed they’d get at the start of the season.
Chris Hughton closed out 2017 with a fine point away at his former club Newcastle.
But now attention has turned to the transfer market, and Brighton’s need to add goals to their team.
Glenn Murray, in particular, has stepped up with goals in the first half of the campaign. Yet the Seagulls have only scored 15 times this season, and they need to do better in 2018 if they are to beat the drop.
Update on Celtic’s Dembele
Sky Sports previously claimed that Celtic had accepted Brighton’s 18 million pound offer for French striker Moussa Dembele.
That report now seems to have jumped the gun, yet Brighton remain keen on the potential deal.
This weekend the Sunday Times have printed the following update:
Brighton are attempting to close a deal with Celtic for a club record transfer of Moussa Dembele. The Scottish champions want at least £20m for the France Under-21 striker, and remain hopeful of drawing other Premier League and overseas suitors into making a competing offer.
Dembele, who has scored 40 goals in 69 appearances for Celtic, including six Champions League finishes, has been monitored by a host of Premier League clubs, including West Ham and Manchester United.

On Saturday in Scotland the Old Form derby ended in a goalless draw at Parkhead.
Interestingly Moussa Dembelen started up front for Celtic against their eternal rivals.
But after failing to find the target, Dembele was subbed out the game for Leigh Griffiths just after the hour mark.
It’s not been the easiest season for 21-year-old Moussa Dembele.
He’s scored four goals and chipped in with three assists in the Scottish Premiership.
